Karol G Unleashes New Album ‘Tropicoqueta’ & Graces Complex Cover

Instead of crossing over with an all-English album, pop star Karol G fully embraced her identity and aimed to create the greatest Latina album in history.

The Complex cover story titled “In Her Skin”, shot by photographer Julianne Escobedo Shepherd, presents Karol G in an arresting and intimate light. In the interview by Julianne Escobedo Shepherd, the cover lines, such as “In her skin, she’s already home.” Signal a story that likely explores Karol G’s internal journey. This stands out in Complex’s music coverage as a moment of personal reflection, not just fame or spectacle.

She’s adorned in a sculptural bodysuit—possibly embellished with metallics or intricate textures—that accentuates her curves and blends avant‑garde fashion with fierce modernity.

Lighting casts a warm, glowing ambiance around her, creating a subtle halo effect that intensifies the cover’s dramatic flair. The iconic masthead sits above her, partially bathed in the same golden halo, visually tying the title to her commanding presence.

In light of it all, the Colombian singer also released her brand new album, Tropicoqueta. Her most ambitious and culturally rooted album yet—each song is a vibrant piece of her journey, inviting listeners into her world, home, and heritage.

A nostalgic homage to the music of her youth and a “love letter to Latin America.” Karol G describes each song as a “world” to discover over time. It features 20 songs blending reggaetón with merengue, bachata, cumbia, vallenato, mambo, mariachi, and more.
