Xaxi Tells His Side of the Story in New Single "El Malo"

Known for his tumbados románticos, breakout star Xavi releases his newest single “El Malo,” his first solo release of the year following a streak of successful collaborations. The song is a powerful reflection on the emotional fallout of a failed relationship and being cast as the villain.

Built on acoustic guitars, El Malo brings the lyrics forward, capturing the emotional tension of heartbreak and the double standard of being seen as “the bad guy.”

“Y aunque a medio mundo tu le contaste tu versión, Yo callado en la mía, ni una sola palabra si me preguntaban y bien que podía. Sí soy el malo de la historia, porque en la peda se te olvida que me odias, La haces de pedo como si fueras mi novia”

The track follows the viral success of “Mírame Feliz,” his collaboration with Belinda, which recently hit #1 on both the General and Pop radio charts in Mexico, and “En Privado” with Manuel Turizo, which has surpassed 191 million global streams, spent seven consecutive weeks on the Spotify Mexico chart, and peaked at #94 on Spotify’s Global chart.

The release of “El Malo” adds to what has already been a strong year for Xavi. In 2025, he took home his first-ever iHeartRadio Music Award for Best New Artist – Regional Mexican, and was nominated for Artist of the Year and Regional Mexican Song of the Year. He also earned two Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, including Mexican Music Fusion of the Year and Best New Artist - Mexican Music.
